Dutch team of four intend to cross the Atlantic W-E by water bike in summer 2009 (the voyage has been postponed for one year). If successful they will become the first to attempt and complete such a crossing along the Northern route . The water bike, which is basically an ocean rowboat Vopak Victory with pedal power, was officially launched at the beginning of September 2007 after it went through serious reconstruction. |

Ocean rowboat Bright Spark - a row across the South China Sea is over |
On May
4 2008 two 50
year old friends from Hong Kong - a 747/400 Captain John Graham and an
Airbus captain Stu Pryke, - started their ASIA MILES challenge,
rowing the South China Sea from Subic to Hebe Haven in Hong Kong in the
boat "Sunny", formerly known as "Bright
Spark" (built by Rossiter Yachts in 2001). The previous
name was secured by plate to
the inner transom bulkhead. Due to
adverse weather the row ended May 12
2008. The team was picked up by a
container ship, search for the
boat goes on |
