A Frenchman is attempting to break a record by sailing his rowboat. Not gently down the stream. But across the Pacific Ocean. Casting off from the Japanese coast today, French native Emmanuel Coindre says he hopes to reach San Francisco by October. In March, a Frenchwoman became the first woman to row across the Pacific Ocean solo, from Peru to Polynesia in just 72 days
