Hi Tori, My name is Dick Krakowski and I e-mailed you prior to your
attempt to cross the ocean last year. I am the one with the big red
bottomed houseboat located in the Juniper Beach area of the Ohio. You
mentioned that you thought you knew my boat. I have followed your
progress all along and am excited by your courage. The reason I am
excited by that is that my wife is also a very courageous woman. She is
in the pre-dialysis stage of End Stage Renal Disease. This was caused =
Diabetes which She has had since the age of three. Last week her ankle
which has had a compression fracture for several years was fused. The
outlook is good. If all goes well with that and the rest of her health
is sufficient, I will have the opportunity to give her a gift of one of
my own kidneys. Your courage has had a positive influence for me and my
outlook toward her health. It's a blessing to be able to care for such
a brave person. I'll add you along with my wife to the top of my "heroes"
list. Thanks, I'll be looking for you to row past my boat.
Lot's of luck,
The Ocean Rowing Society wish you and your wife well on your journey... I am sure if Tori were able to e-mail you she would encourage you with the path ahead... (tom lynch ORS)

Good evening from Louisville! Hope you are well and your spirits are up. I
read about your previous attempt with your friend that did not work out. I
questioned your sanity and your true motivation! But I read your quote about
wishing to be no where else in the world but where you find yourself and that
changed my mind. Good luck and good rowing! David Gravatte

Torrie - When you first started - I had to laugh - there was no way you
were going to row the Atlantic by yourself -- probably out 50 miles --
But -- I said if you did get out 1,000 miles, I'd send you a message.
Been following you from Day 1 -- you've made a believer out of me.
I'll be watching you all the way across. Way to go, Torrie.
All the best.

Your incredible journey is getting some nice press here these days - as
well it should! We all think it's about time. YOU GO GIRL! The Web
page about the crossing is wonderful. The number of hits to the site
shows the level of interest, concern, and support for you that we all
have. I wish we could all chat with you en route. I have a zillion
questions, like: do you hum songs to keep your rhythm? Do you
experience elbow or knee stress? What happens if you get a toothache?
Are the stars as mesmerizing as I imagine they are on the ocean? What
has been your best day, and why? Your worst, and why? My swimming
buddies on Lakeside's Masters Team chatted in the locker room this
morning about your trip. I told them I would be sending you a message.
They asked that I convey to you their best wishes. We are all athletes
and we know something of the need to focus, have a goal, train through
the pain, etc., but we are all in awe of you! What a beacon you are and
will be to the next generation of young women! We promise you a dinner
when you come home. Anywhere along Frankfort Avenue. Be safe ...
P.S. We're muddling along at City Hall without you, but hurry home. We
don't know how long we can hold out!

To identify myself, I, like many others, was a supporter of your and Louise's
attempt to participate in the Atlantic Rowing Race.
We in Louisville are very pleased with your progress in this row. Thought you
might want to know you were the subject of Milton Metz's broadcast today. He
stated the information regarding your statement to the personnel of the
fishing vessel. Your positive attitude is encouraging to us all. We in
Louisville will continue to watch your progress in The Courier-Journal, via
national news, and through this web site. Continued good luck and progress to

Hello Tori, I am Timothy Barrett, of Louisville, Kentucky. I am very
proud to be from the same city as an outgoing, athletic adventurer as
yourself. You embody the American ethic for hard work and lofty goals
which makes this country successful. Although the success of your many
adventures, today and those you have yet to imagine, falls less upon
your shoulders than upon providence, the strength and resolve in your
heart and soul will play a greater role than your training and
endurance. You are never alone in world that values such courage and
determination. Our thoughts and prayers follow for your safety and your
spiritual growth. You are already a hero to your friends and
acquaintances. Keep your spirits high, focus on your daily goals, and
we will celebrate your great adventure when you return to us.
